M Box2 as the \"sound card\" for PC

I just received, from Sweetwater, a CS Tower (XP P4) with PTLE pre-installed. I was disappointed to learn that I cannot use the PC to view DVDs and/or play REAL PLAYER, MEDIA PLAYER, or other multi-media files (even listen to items off the web). The internal soundcard has been disabled, as described by Sweetwater techs, as the potential confusion with audio out through the MBOX. Is there a way around this? Can't the MBOX be my "audio source", regardless of the application? Thanks!

Actually, they moved the info about the wavedriver and ASIO driver to separate guides: The Getting Started Guide for the mBox2 points there too, though.
