oooops, what have I done ?

Hi folks, I decided to have a go at replacing the bulb in the auto gear change, after disconnecting the heated seats I removed the gear shift console, where upon I couldnt find where the bulb went, decided to drive to the garage to ask for help..........no can do, turn ignition key & nothing happens, all lights on dash iluminate but nothing from engine. any ideas what i've done to it please ? Jan :(

no start 

possibly you have inadvertantly dislodged the inhibitor switch wiring, which will only allow the engine to start in neutral or park ? Take a look at all wiring around the gear lever area. Regards, Richard VOC 3801

Thankyou for your reply Richard, afraid it was my fault, sitting here very embarrased..........engine will only start with gear lever in park :embaressed_smile: got the bulb changed though :) Jan

Hi I've done that!! even sent for the RAC to come and get it, and when they turned up, put it into park, started the thing, felt like crawling under the seat.

I know how you feel. Years ago I filled my petrol Skoda up with deisel - I can still see the look on the AA guys face when he discovered the problem after spending ages checking various things...........

There are probably none of us who haven't done something equally silly! I have - too many times. Mike
