IMiV iPod adapter

Quite interested in one of these here: Has anyone bought one? Never bought anything from abroad so unsure what duty/VAT would be payable and how payment of it is handled. How well does it perform? I'll only use it for iPod control, none of the fancy video stuff.

Check out the Swedespeed forums, it was a guy on there that developed it. If you only want the iPod control/aux audio input the USAspec adaptor would suit you fine and should be cheaper. I have one, as do a few others here, and am very pleased with it.

Does anyone know of anyone in the UK who would fit something like this? And roughly how much? I would like to make maximum use of the iMIV including video etc, but don't want to wreck my cars electrics doing it.

Hard luck over the tax, I just asked the dealer to mark mine as a cheap gift and it came through no probs, element of luck of the draw though from what I gather.

I've been stitched up by Parcel Force & Royal Mail for tax and handling charges - so to get even if I'm buying DVD's I get the sender to mark them as "Historical & Educational" and these don't get taxed (I'm buying railway DVD's BTW). G

Don't be frightened of fitting it yourself. I did and I'm very wary. I ordered mine with the power splitter. Just unplug the green plug behind the ecc unit/stereo and then plug both in to the splitter. There's only two other simple plugs in the back of the HU. The only issue is disconnecting the battery before you start anything. You can stuff the adaptor behind the plastic trim (slides into place) in the passenger footwell. There's loads of installation guides on swedespeed (links on this forum of course) Have a go - it's all torx srews - nothing to snap off!
