possible to reencode .avi with gknot?

I was wondering if its possible to reencode an avi file with gknot. I have some movies I encoded to 2 cd size in divx 3 or 4 and now I want to put them down to 1 cd in divx 5. Is there any way to do this with gordian knot?

You may not like the results, but you're welcome to try. Gknot 0.27 now supports .avi or .avs input. You'll find the install packages in two parts (a RipPack and a SystemPack) in Doom9's download section.

i dont have the dvd source here or i would do that... i can load the video but how do I load the audio?

Extract the audio from the .avi file using Nandub. 1. File....Open Video File 2. File....Save WAV. Use the proper filetype, such as .ac3 or .mp3 in the file name. The "Save WAV" command is used in Nandub to extract the first audio track, regardless of the format of the audio (WAV, MP3, AC3, etc...). If you're unsure of the audio format, inspect the .avi file with . To remux, select the audio file you extracted in the Audio 1 tab, leave 0 milliseconds delay, and select the "just mux" option in the Audio 1 tab.

To extract audio you should not use nandub, but the newer VirtualDubMod, which is able to demux audio without the wav header as well as getting the secondary audio file too.
