Limb home mode

Hi have just starting havin problems with car going in to limb home mode it has been sorting its self out by either taking foot completley of accelarator or turning of ignition.i have just had regon gear box put in im getting no messages on dash and the car is s80 d5 auto is this problem related to gearbox any info would greatly be appreciated regards Dave:angry2::angry2:

thanks for reply but im not getting a message on the computer as for etm poblems on the d5 (were have you been) this is a very common fault on the d5 before 2006 and is costing us volvo drivers a small fortune

Hi, Ahh.... As far as I knew the Diesel cars did not have the same ETM so shouldn't be an issue. At least by what I have read so far.. Get your codes read/checked as there is likely to be something logged... I assume you have no message or anything displayed on the driver info?? Des. . . ;)

Correct the Diesels don't and never have had the ETM issues. Pre 2004 though they had the injector issues! ( just can't win!!) As said you need to have the codes pulled, it's all guess work otherwise. If you have no messages - to a point that's a semi-good thing, in that there's no "pull the hell over now before you do more damage" kinda message. The car is obviously not happy with something and goes into limp home mode to protect it from excessive revs. As said could be anything, hopefully it's something simple such as a sensor.. Vipes

Hi mate, I also run a s80 d5 as a taxi, it's an 04 plate & it's up to 130k miles. 2 weeks ago I also had to get my autobox reconned! Local firm to me done it, after they had it for 5 days I got it back still with the same fault; swore at them profusely the following monday & eventually got it back 4 days later fully fixed. It seems the 1st time they just changed the gears, clutches & bushes in the box but the fault lay in the valve block solenoids which they had to do at their expense. Still a bloody good car though!
