Audix D2\'s and D4\'s. How are they?

I saw these mics @ a local pawn shop and thought I may want these to expand my mic collection. I currently have like 8 or 9 sm57's so perhaps I could sell off some of the 57's for these mics. How are the audix mics on drums? Oh and the D4's, are they for kick only or can I use them on lo toms etc. D2's for snare? Peace

d2 for regular toms and d4 for floor toms. very "american" sound. and really, not good for snare. you might want to try the d4 for guitar amp, though... and the d2 is GREAT for sax.

Audix makes great mics. I'd say do it. But for Kick go with a D6, the best kick mic on the market, hand down.

I like the D2 on toms and guitar. I haven't tried the D4 on guitar, but don't care for it on most kick drums. Its pretty good for floor toms, however. I haven't heard the D6, but a lot of people seem to dig it, and I hope to try one sooner or later. I'm using an AKG D112 for kick, which some people like, some hate. Audix mics are a good value. Audixx d2's and D4's are what Danny Carey uses to mic his drum set live, at least when he is playing with Pigmy Love Circus. I understand they are great for toms as people have previously stated.

dudes im telling ya.....try a D6 on the toms, its sweet. Leave the kick to a E602, i love this mic. If you have the chance to A/B the senn E-602 and the D6 you'll notice that they are similar, but the 602 has more beef in the low end. Also, try a D6 on the bass cab.
