Hey, I installed REAPER today, and like it a lot! After figuring out, how to use the VSTi's I have one question: How can I assign one VSTi to a few MIDI-Tracks? When I click on "fx" on each Track, a new instance of the VSTi will be opened. This is really annoying, when I want to use "Philharmonic" for example. In this VSTi I have 16 channels. In Cubase I chose the chanells for every track in the track-list (e.g.: violin = channel 1; piano = channel 2). I assigned all tracks to one VSTi. Then I opened Philharmonic and assigned the instruments to the channels, I selected. Everything in one window. In REAPER I have to open a new Philharmonic-Window for every track... well... have I? Or is there a solution? Thx for help!
A click on the FX button of the track with the vsti opens its FX chain window. There is an option in the menue called something like 'build 16 channels of MIDI to this track'. This will create 16 tracks routed to all 16 MIDI channels in one swoosh. You can also just create a send on any existing track routed to the vsti track, set it up as midi send to the channel you like and call it a day. Quick and easy if you've done it once.
