Soloing vocals using automation

Is there a way to solo vocals using automation? When I click to S to solo it doesn't automate when I play it back. When I do it with the mute button it works.

Don't think so. If you want to do this during a mix, I'd group everything except the vox and mute the group.

Or run the band tracks through an Aux, and Mute Automate the Aux. The above idea is good as well, just another way to do the same thing.
