Neve Pre\'s through Rosetta?

I use a 1272 with an Apogee PSX 100 (which I believe is pretty similar to the Rosetta but with a few more bells and whistles) and it sounds absolutely amazing. I really love the way Apogee's sound. One thing I would note about the Rosetta though is that unlike the RME or the Lucid, is that it doesn't have any D/A conversion. I know that you need to buy the Lucid D/A seperately but I've heard it's still a great deal. Again, although I haven't personally heard either the RME or Lucid, I would say they will all do a great job. I know it doesn't help and you'll probably hear this from everybody but if you have the chance, give them all a listen... And let your ears decide. Good Luck and Easy Listening R.

I really enjoy my Apogee Rosetta. Now I never use any 001 converters. I wouldn't call the Rosetta "bright", just accurate and very clear, which is what you want in an A/D converter. That will not hinder at all the colored sound of your Neve Pre...just faithfully reproduce it's sound to digital. Another thing I've enjoyed about the Apogee is the clarity when mixing a lot of tracks. I used to hear a bad muddiness which I believe was due to clock jitter as my track count increased. But not any more with the Rosetta. All the best....

My signal chain is Brent's 1272s into Empirical Distressors into the Rosetta-- and it is STELLAR !!! I highly reccomend it- very nuetral and balanced

Me too. Brent to Rosetta. Consider the apogee will be able to be resold at a MUCH higher price than the RME or Lucid. Plus, when folks walk in to the studio..bam..theres an apogee! It actually makes the extra money worth it.
