can\'t open PT since I upgraded to Win XP

I just upgraded to Win xp. Now when I try to open PT, some sort of DAE error flashes on the screen and PT discontinues it's start-up process and shuts down. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Should I uninstall and reinstall PT? Thanks.

Do you have the newest version of PTLE? it's the only one that will work on XP. If you already do, uninstall and reinstall and try again.

I have 5.1.1 I was told that it would be fine. But what is the proper way to uninstall PT?

Well, we tried running the latest version of LE with a digi001 on a fresh install of XP (with SP1 installed) and the same problem keeps coming up. To tell you the truth, with the digi001 card installed, the system keeps having very strange problems that go away when we uninstall the software and driver. The Wave Driver keeps disappearing too. It works fine after installing it, and as long as we don't shut down the computer, all is well. The second we shut down and reboot, the Wave Driver disappears and all the other audio applications we run won't open because of problems accessing the digi001. This has been VERY frustrating. XP has worked well enough without PT LE 5.3 installed but the second it is installed and/or the wave driver, all hell breaks loose. For now, we have uninstalled it and just stuck with Nuendo and Sonar with the Delta 1010 card. Nobody has been able to explain why these problems persist. I am a little down on digidesign products right now... I avoided them for years, and while it wasn't my choice to purchase their products, I decided to give them a chance. Now I get the headaches and there doesn't seem to be any aspirin around!

That's very strange. I have Windows XP Pro and PTLE 5.3.1 runs very well. Did you do the Windows XP upgrade install or the fresh install? I never do OS upgrades. My experience has been that the clean installs are much more reliable. Especially going from the dos/9x kernel to the NT kernel. Windows XP has been very stable for me. Brian

during the install of ptle and probably the wave-drivers too, you will have to disable driver signing. Read the readme-file incuded with the downoad very very careful... After reading the instructions and downloading the installer i installed ptle 5.3.1 in under 5 minutes.....and everything went wel...

I read in the technical stuff on the Digi site that the wave driver doesn't exist in the new XP version of PTle as it's been integrated into the architecture (?) somehow? I'm assuming that the PTle 5.3.1 download zip also includes all the Digi001 drivers. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks, Rhett
