new cam belt for 2.4 turbo desial any instuctions

could do with some help orded the belts and just need a little help is it a hard job done varius cars from the vauxal engine to the ford and a audi 80 1.9tdi is there any special tools needed allso doing the injecter pump to any help would be brill craig its the 6 cyl desial turbo engine 2.4 made by volswagon audi allso found in the bolwagon lt i belive

Craig, good to have another member with the d24. If you are going to do all that work you should splash out on volvo part V97000164, the engine manual. Special tools (9)! are advised and the relevant part starts.. drain coolant, remove alternator, remove radiator, do not remove intercooler....and so on. The hardest bit apparently is removal of the vibration damper bolt (350 Nm) and there is a thread here discussing methods of removal. Also search on 'd24 cambelt' and you will get some idea of how others got on. A US chap, also a member (mycoleptodiscus), resurrected a 740td and blogged the experience . This is a great account, even for the mechanically challenged and would be useful for you as there's a section on the pump timing. If you don't want to get the manual you are welcome to borrow mine. I'll be interested to hear how you get on. john

thankyou for that the blog was really good i have encounted anouther prob with my old girl with desial running back into the tank replaced washers and even pipes on injectors no hose leeks but you can hear hissing near the pump then it drains back
