I have two PT systems running on G4's intermixed with a windows network. No problems, but I've noticed lately that when I send a wave file from ProTools over to a Windows computer, the one wave file is also accompanied by a ._Title.wav and Title.sfk and the actual Title.wav. Whe the extrea baggage? The ._Title.wav is also grayed out in explorer. I don't remember this happening until we got the G4's and OSX running on them. Just curious as to why this is happening. Thanks, Steve

Well the *.sfk files are from opening the file in a sonic foundry / sony app on your PC, vegas, or Soundforge, it's wav cache for those apps, and in the preferences of those apps, you can set it to "clean up after itself" by deleting *.sfk files on application close. Those files are unrelated to the mac. the _*.wav "greyed out" files however.... Are. they are hidden files, (that's why they are greyed, if you don't want to see them, you can select "Do NOT show hidden files" in your folder options dialog in windows. You may also notice a "Volume Settings Folder" in the root, of all drives on the PC that you've mounted on the mac. When you mount a drive from the PC, on the Mac, over the network, it treats it like a hard drive, indexes files, creates temporary files with resource fork information, you may also find a few DS_Store files after a while. once you've sucessfully transfered many files, and all is well, it's ok to occasionally view hidden files, and clean these up, (in windows) they're all small, but can add up after a while. If you delete TheVolumeSettings folder (you won't be able to WHILE mounted by the mac) the mac will re-create it the next time you mount that drive.
I should add, from my entry last night, that if you Delete the files you put there from the mac, ON the MAC, it will delete the associated *_.wav (or, whatever file) when you delete the file, from the mounted network drive on the Mac. this is the best way to keep these files cleaned up. If you continue to delete files, place on your PC from the Mac, on the PC, these hidden, underscore files, will pile up, and you'll need to clean them up, on your PC once in a while, like mentioned on the above post.
