Hi everyone. I've been running protools free on a G4 - using a 15 inch (14 inch viewable) monitor. So far, so good. Shortly I plan to buy Mbox Protools LE, and I like the idea of an affordable, portable studio, so the iBook seems like a good option. My one concern is the 12 inch screen on most iBooks. I would like to hear from other Mbox/iBook users. Is Protools okay on a 12 inch screen, or do you constantly have to scroll? Is everything really small, i.e. a strain on the eyes. The next option is the iBook with 14 inch screen - any users out there. Obviously it's a bit more expensive, and i only want to go the 14 inch option if it is really necessary from a user-friendly - navigation - ease-on-the-eyes perspective. Thanks in advance for any responses.
Both screens have the same resolution - therefore you won't "see" any more on a 14 inch iBook than you would on a 12 inch iBook (it'll just be slightly larger). So if you can handle smaller font sizes, etc., save the $$ and go with the 12 inch. Besides, it makes it easier to carry around. Or, use the VGA out and a cheap 17 inch CRT when you're tracking at home. dc
I use the iceBook 600 w/ the 12" screen. Since i'm in the over 40 group and I wear reading magnifiers, the 12" screen looks larger than it really is and is fine for everything I use if for. Portability, functionality and resolution were my main criteria for buying and I don't regret a single dollar spent. I wonder sometimes how I got along without this little jewel
